The Student Activity Server has been renamed to the Penn State Student Organizations Web Service and is under new management. These Web pages are out of date and will be removed in the near future. Please read http://www.clubs.psu.edu/info/ for information about the new service.
The Student Activity Server (SAS) was one of Interface's first projects and put online in 1996 to give university organizations their own web server. Previously, club web accounts were handled by CAC, were slow to process and only one person was allowed to edit the pages. Interface wanted to create a student run server that would allow multiple individuals to work on a clubs web pages. CAC donated an IBM PC350 to the club and the SAS was born.
The coordinator of the Student Activity Server Committee is Jeff D'Angelo. You can reach Jeff and the rest of the Committee at our contact page. Since the changeover from the dying club, Interface, to the Activity Server Committee, administration has concentrated on keeping the server status quo ensuring all promises of already existing services remained intact. Discussion of progressing and upgrading the server and it's software is currently ongoing. Drop us a line if you wish to help out.
